TeeTimeHelper Service Outage: Hosting Provider (Akamai/Linode) Experiencing Data Center Issues

✅ Update – July 27, 2025 @ 9:17pm CST

We’re pleased to report that all services for TeeTimeHelper have now been fully restored. Our server is back online and functioning normally following the resolution of the earlier data center issues at Akamai (Linode).

We will continue to monitor performance closely, but at this time, users should experience normal access to all features and functionality.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding during the outage.

— TeeTimeHelper Team

🔄 Update – July 27, 2025 @ 8:30pm CST

Some services within the Akamai (Linode) Newark data center have now been partially restored, but access to the TeeTimeHelper server remains unavailable.

We have had multiple direct communications with Akamai, and while they confirm that work is actively ongoing to restore all services, they have not committed to a specific timeline for resolution.

We continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide another update as soon as more progress is made.

— TeeTimeHelper Team

TeeTimeHelper Downtime Update – July 27, 2025

We want to keep you informed about the ongoing unavailability of TeeTimeHelper. The issue stems from a widespread infrastructure problem affecting our hosting provider Linode, which is a part of Akamai Technologies.

What Happened?

Earlier today, Akamai (via its Linode platform) experienced a major service disruption in its US-East (Newark) data center, where TeeTimeHelper’s infrastructure is hosted. This was caused by cooling system failures following a power outage. Although power has been restored, the cooling issues have led to continued downtime as systems are gradually brought back online.

Immediate Response

We were alerted immediately by our own internal status monitoring system, which allowed us to begin investigating and tracking the issue in real time. While the outage is on the hosting provider’s side, we’ve been proactive in communicating with Akamai and preparing any necessary contingencies.

Current Impact

TeeTimeHelper is currently offline, and users may not be able to access the site or related services. This outage has extended beyond Newark, affecting other Akamai/Linode data centers including Dallas, Fremont, Sydney, Tokyo, Toronto, and Washington.

Latest from Akamai

"Impact to Linode Kubernetes Engine (LKE) services has been confirmed to extend to several data centers due to the interaction with our data center in Newark. We continue working to bring services back online."
(Posted Jul 27, 2025 - 14:24 UTC)

What We’re Doing

We are closely monitoring Akamai’s status updates and will take additional action if extended downtime continues. We’ll provide updates here and via email to keep you informed.

Your Data Is Safe

All TeeTimeHelper data is secure. This is strictly a hosting-level service outage—no customer data has been lost or compromised.

Thank You for Your Patience

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. We’re working to restore access as soon as Akamai resolves the infrastructure issue.

You're Invited! How to RSVP to a TeeTimeHelper Event

Here’s what to expect and how to RSVP in just a few clicks:

Step 1: Check Your Email

Look for an email from TeeTimeHelper with the subject line referencing your upcoming golf event. Inside the email, you’ll see key event details—such as the course, date, and time—and a prominent button labeled:

👉 “RSVP for this Event”

Clicking this button will securely take you to a web page where you can view all the details and respond.

Step 2: View the Event Details

Once you click the button, you’ll land on a dedicated event page showing:

  • The event name and golf course details

  • The scheduled date and time

TeeTimeHelper Introduces Real‑Time RSVP Status

TeeTimeHelper Introduces Real‑Time RSVP Status

Have you ever sent out a tee‑time invite only to spend the next few hours refreshing your screen, wondering who has committed?

Those days are over.

Today we’re excited to roll out Real‑Time RSVP Status for TeeTimeHelper events.

What’s New?

  • Live Updates: As soon as a golfer taps Yes, No, or Waitlist, every admin and member currently viewing the event sees the response instantly—no page refresh required.

  • Blinking Green Highlight: New “Yes” responses appear with a green blink for up to ten seconds so they stand out in the roster. After the blink, the name settles into the standard confirmed style.

  • Group Awareness: Late‑deciders can see spots filling up in real time and jump in before it’s too late.

Why It Matters

  • Faster Foursomes: Organizers know immediately when they have a complete group and can book additional tee‑times or close registration without delay.

  • Transparency: Everyone watching the event sees the same information at the same time—no more hidden spots or double bookings.

  • Engagement: The gentle green blink adds a touch of excitement and encourages players to RSVP sooner rather than later.

How to Use It

  1. Create or open any event in TeeTimeHelper.

  2. Stay on the event page.

  3. Ask a friend to RSVP. Watch their name pop up and flash green.

That’s it. No settings to toggle—real‑time status is on by default for every account.

Stay tuned, and let us know what you think. As always, let us know your feedbackSee you on the first tee!

Understanding the 'Hide All Invitees' Setting: Why Members Can’t Fill Out Their Tee Times with Other Players

TeeTimeHelper gives admins powerful tools to manage privacy and visibility for golf event RSVPs. One of these tools is the “Hide All Invitees” and “Show Only Attendees”, which controls how much of the guest list is visible to members.

While this feature can be useful for private events or simplified coordination, it does affect one key function: the ability for members to add players to their tee time.

How It Normally Works

In most events, when a member RSVPs and selects a tee time, they’re able to add more players to their group. This is done by choosing from a dropdown list of invited members—making it easy to coordinate with friends, regular partners, or new faces in the group.

This system relies on visibility of the full list of invitees.

What Happens When “Hide All Invitees” or "Show Only Attendees" Is Enabled

When an admin selects either option:

  • The “Add Players” function is disabled because members don’t have the list of invitees to select from.

Summary of the Impact

  • ✅ Members can RSVP and select a tee time.

  • 🚫 Members cannot add players to their tee time.

  • 🔧 Admins retain full control and can manage tee times manually if needed.

Admin Tip

If your event encourages self-organized groups or filling out foursomes, we recommend leaving this setting as Show All Invitees to allow members to see each other and use the player dropdown menu. But for events where privacy is key or where the admin prefers to handle tee times, enabling “Hide All Invitees” is a solid choice.

You may change the invite visibility at any time by navigating to your event page and pressing the pencil icon next to the event name.

New Invite List Privacy Controls in TeeTimeHelper

Introducing New Invite List Privacy Controls in TeeTimeHelper

We’re excited to introduce a new feature in TeeTimeHelper that gives golf event organizers more control over their invite lists. With our latest update, admins can now choose how much of the invite list is visible to invitees, ensuring greater flexibility and privacy.

Enhanced Privacy Settings for Invite Lists

Previously, all invitees could see who else was invited to an event. Now, admins have three visibility options:

  1. Show All Invitees – All invited players can see who else has been invited.

  2. Show Only Those Who Have RSVP’d – Players can only see invitees who have confirmed their participation.

  3. Hide All Invitees – Invitees will not see the invite list at all.

Regardless of the selected visibility setting, all admins for the group can see the full invite list at all times. This ensures that organizers maintain full oversight of the event.

Impact on Tee Time Selection

When the Show All Invitees option is enabled, your event may be eligible for a feature that allows players to fill out their chosen tee times with other members from a pull-down menu. However, if an admin chooses to partially or fully hide the invite list, this option will be disabled to maintain privacy.

Why This Matters

This feature is perfect for:

  • Private groups that prefer to keep their invite list confidential.

  • Events where RSVPs should influence visibility.

  • Admins who want full control over how invitees interact with each other before the event.

With these new RSVP privacy controls, TeeTimeHelper continues to improve the way golf groups organize and manage their tee times. Try it out in your next event and let us know what you think!

Introducing the Enhanced Admin Tools for TeeTimeHelper

We've introduced a new 'Admin Tools' section near the top of the event details page, providing quick and easy access to essential features for event admins. This enhancement streamlines event management, making tasks like creating new events or batch editing RSVPs more convenient than ever.

The updated Admin Tools interface now features dropdown menus, offering more space to include additional functionalities beyond the previous icon-based layout. This allows us to introduce useful options such as 'Member Stats,' 'Export CSV,' and more. The icon-based Admin Tools section is still available on the page, ensuring you have multiple ways to access key features.

There are three dropdown menus available under the Admin Tools section:

  1. Event Management: This menu includes options for adding a new event or cloning an existing event, making it simple to set up your next gathering.

  2. Member Management: This menu provides tools related to event participants, including adding members, inviting multiple members, batch editing RSVPs, and viewing member stats.

  3. Event Operations: This menu contains actions you can take on the current event, such as adding a group, sending messages, editing event details, locking the event, randomizing event assignments, viewing the tee sheet, exporting event data, and removing the event.

Additionally, the Admin Tools dropdown features a helpful tip section. For example, if your group has only a few members, you'll see a quick link to invite more participants, ensuring your event stays well-organized and engaging.

We hope you enjoy the new Admin Tools dropdown area, designed to provide seamless access to TeeTimeHelper’s event features and make event management more efficient. Try it out and experience the improved convenience today!

Introducing Batch Edit RSVPs: Streamline Your Tee Time Management

We're excited to announce a brand-new feature on our website that will revolutionize how admins manage tee times: Batch Edit RSVPs. This powerful update allows you to easily swap players, assign new participants, or remove players from multiple tee times—all in one efficient pass.

What’s New?

Managing RSVPs for multiple tee times can be time-consuming and error-prone, especially when changes need to be applied across several tee times. With our Batch Edit RSVPs feature, admins now have a centralized tool to:

  • Swap Players: Quickly exchange one player for another across tee times.
  • Assign Players: Add new participants to upcoming events without manual, individual updates.
  • Remove Players: Effortlessly clear out RSVPs from tee times where players are no longer available.

How It Works

1. Select Your Tee Times

Begin by choosing the tee times you need to modify. Whether you're dealing with a single event or multiple events simultaneously, our intuitive interface lets you select the relevant tee times with ease.

2. Choose Your Action

Decide whether you’re swapping, assigning, or removing players. The interface offers clear options for each action, ensuring you apply the correct change to the appropriate slots.

3. Apply Changes in Bulk

Once your selections are made, simply confirm your action. Our system processes your request, updating all selected tee times in one go. This batch process minimizes the risk of errors and saves you valuable time.

Why Batch Edit RSVPs?

  • Efficiency: Say goodbye to tedious manual updates. With just a few clicks, modify multiple RSVPs, allowing you to focus on other important tasks.
  • Accuracy: Reduce the risk of human error when updating numerous tee times. Our system ensures that all changes are consistently applied.
  • Flexibility: Whether you're preparing for a tournament or managing regular play, this tool adapts to your needs, making it easier to respond to last-minute changes.

Real-World Benefits

Imagine this scenario: a key player is unexpectedly unavailable, and you need to replace them with another member. Instead of logging into each event individually, you can now perform a batch swap—instantly updating the affected slot. Alternatively, if a group of players confirms their attendance at the last minute, you can quickly assign them to available slots, ensuring your event runs smoothly without any delays.

Getting Started

We designed Batch Edit RSVPs with you in mind. To start using this new feature:

  1. Log in to your admin dashboard.
  2. Navigate to the Event Options section.
  3. Select “Batch Edit RSVPs” and follow the on-screen prompts.

For any questions please contact us.

Happy teeing off!
